Meet Rafael Valle

Rafael Valle is the owner and head instructor of Salsa Kings Miami Lakes — and one of the most enduring names in South Florida's Latin dance community. Twenty years in the dance world have made him a believer in one simple truth: salsa is for everybody, and everybody deserves to feel what it is like to truly dance.

Trained in all styles of salsa — and a passionate bachata dancer — Rafael is known for turning absolute beginners into confident social dancers. His signature class nights pair focused partner work with the electricity of group Rueda, a format his students cross town for, week after week, in Miami Lakes and Cooper City. Off the class floor, he is sought after for private instruction, weddings, and quinceañeras across South Florida.

His road here was anything but straight. Rafael opened studios before — and watched them fail. Each closed door cost him, and each one taught him. Where most would have walked away from the business for good, he studied what went wrong, rebuilt from the floor up, and came back determined to do it right. Salsa Kings Miami Lakes, which celebrated its grand opening in October 2026, is the studio those hard lessons built.

Then came the fight that had nothing to do with dance. A cancer diagnosis put Rafael in the battle of his life — treatment, recovery, and the long road back, with his kid waiting at home and a whole community holding its breath. He survived it. And when he was strong enough, he did the thing that had carried him through every dark season before it: he danced. Father. Survivor. The man who refused to let go of the music. That story is written into every class he teaches.

Ask his students what makes Rafael different, and they will not start with the steps. They will tell you about the joy — a room full of strangers becoming family, two songs at a time. That is the heart of Salsa Kings, and it starts with him. Your first class is free. Come meet the man behind the music.

Rafael Valle is a certified salsa dance instructor by the United States Salsa Federation.
